The end client engaged with Salko to design, procure, manufacture, and deliver x50 EGD1 liner plates for their EGD1 Insulation upgrades on GT26 Exhausts in 2023 and 2024.

The objective for the client is to have 5 fully fabricated sets (50 liner plates in total) to install during their C-Inspections in 2023 and 2024.

Salko UK provided and completed Mechanical and Electrical scope of works on the office area, warehouse, and external lighting delivered to estimated budgets, Quality and programme constraints whilst working with the wider design team, principal contractor and building control operatives.

The end client engaged with Salko to assist with provision of Mechanical and Electrical support for their newly acclaimed Cast Segment Facility.

The objective for the client was to construct a fully functioning precast concrete segment facility for tunnelling construction across the UK.

Salko was engaged by the end client to complete critical Exhaust Gas Housing repairs on x9 of their GT 26’s across the UK.

The condition of the Exhaust Gas Housing was assessed prior to the works commencing by Salko and the customers representative welding engineers.

The end client engaged with Salko to assist with the full tube bundle replacement on their HP OTC (once through cooler)

The objective for the client was to install and operate with a brand-new full tube bundle replacement, to eradicate leaking issues they had previously had.

The end client wanted to convert part of a barn building into a bespoke mezzanine office to utilize the space available to a working office.

Heat recovery fan was installed to capture as much of the air temperature required for the space, an up to date hot and cold-water system was installed to the kitchen and toilet areas also.

The GT 26 low pressure and high pressure Once Through Coolers (OTC) reduce the temperature of the Gas Turbine’s cooling air systems.

This is through a heat exchange between the GT cooling air and water (steam) from the Water Steam Cycle.  Over operational time the OTC’s can develop leaks between the air and water sides. This leak of water into the cooling air system detrimentally  increases demin water consumption and has the potential to impact the cooling air ratios.  It can also lead to increased levels of corrosion in the system.

The GT 26 Exhaust Gas Diffuser is a segmented diffuser consisting of ten independent moving plates. These form an liner in the exhaust path to the HRSG.

Between the liner plates and the outer casing there is layered insulation matting. During the operation of the GT26 the EGD 1 liner plates will require repair.
