Where We Have Worked
Winsford Salt Mine – Winsford, Cheshire, U.K
Winsford rock salt mine is the UK’s largest and oldest working mine. Salko has delivered Mechanical and Electrical services to Winsford from new installations to ongoing support and maintenance.
Hatfield Colliery – Hatfield, Yorkshire, U.K
Salko provided Mechanical and Electrical services for a period of 12 years to the site as resident engineers. Ours services included fabrication and installation steel work and gantries, site wide containment for pipework and cabling installations, installation of mains switch gear, methane gas plants. Installation of site wide LWD lighting, HVAC to administration building and wash rooms, coal crushing and washing plants, and maintenance for the water cleaning plant.
Woodsmith Mining Site (Anglo American) – Whitby, Yorkshire, U.K
Salko UK are currently involved in a state-of-the-art mine that is being constructed two miles south of Whitby in the North York Moors National Park. Polyhalite ore will be extracted via two mine shafts and transported outside of the National Park to Teesside on a conveyor belt system in an underground tunnel, avoiding any impact on the countryside above.
We have supported the customer with the provision of projects in the procurement and installation of ventilation, dust control, dewatering and piping systems for multiple shafts. All completed during the challenging time of a global pandemic. To date we have completed all works to the required quality, meeting the program requirements and with an excellent safety record with our customer.
We continue to remain a flexible and responsive partner for Anglo American as the project moves forward.
